Minister of Finance Temenuzhka Petkova met with Eurogroup and ECB Presidents Paschal Donahoe and Christine Lagarde, as well as with Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis. Minister Petkova stated the government’s determination to continue efforts towards euro area membership. All EU participants welcomed the formation of the new government and its strong commitment to adopt the euro. Based on the available information, the EU institutions agreed that Bulgaria is making the necessary progress towards euro adoption. This will enable Bulgaria to submit a request for extraordinary convergence reports in the short term.
